How to stop pigging out

Recently I heard that from now through the rest of the year a large part of the population gains 10 pounds. WOW!!! The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. Then there is Halloween... then Thanksgiving and all of the stuffingUndecided. And if that wasn't enough--the Christmas season. Finally comes, the New Year's celebration. With all of these events comes celebrating with our friends and family with lots of food and sometimes alcohol. Shew, just thinking about it gives me a stomachacheCry.

But wait, there is something that you can do! Tada--EFT. If you haven't used EFT to eat less, then you are missing out on an extra powerful use of this valuable tool.

How would you start? With EFT this is no one cookie cutter answer for every single person. However, one way would be to first tap on your unwillingness to miss out on any of the goodies that may be coming your way through the rest of the year.

You could tap on your karate chop point, saying:

Even though:

  • my inner child doesn't want to give up any goodies--ever, I deeply and completely love and accept myself
  • there is a part of me that feels like I deserve all of the goodies that are offered to me, and I don't want to say "no" to any of them...
  • no one can make me not eat any of the goodies that I have been looking forward to all year...
  • there is a part of me that feels that I don't want to control myself around any of the treats that are going to be available the rest of the year...

If your inner child is anything like mine, she feels like she deserves it ALL. Oh yeah, you might want to add at the end of one or more of the above statements:

  • I forgive myself for pigging out in the past
  • I forgive myself for being out of control with goodies and treats--I really was doing the best I could at that time

I would love for you to make comments. Sometimes I feel like no one is out there (and I know that you are).

With love and respect for where you are on your path to respecting your body and how you are with food.

Gratefully yours,

JoAnn

Hi Skywatcher,

Thanks for the great post.  I laughed all the way through it.  You really hit it with those set-up statements, I think I'll  tape them to my snack drawer!

Valerie,

I am so glad that you thought that my set-up phrases were funny. I find that humor works really well to clear blocks. Your idea about taping them to your snack drawer is brilliant.

Gratefully yours,

Great post JoAnn, and of course very helpfulSmile

When I worked in the weight management field we called it the "National Eating Season"  It's starts on Halloween and continues through Thanks Giving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Years.  And yes, a lot of people gain 10 pounds during it!  We should all recite your set up phrases every morning! Wink

Once when I was teaching aerobics classes at 5:30AM I gained 10 pounds.... How????  People kept bringing in donuts for breakfast!

my inner child doesn't want to give up any goodies--ever, I deeply and completely love and accept myself............

Brandy,

I hadn't heard of the name the National Eating Season--I guess it sums it all up.

When I was an athlete in the 60s and taught aerobics in the 70s, I usually weighed about 10 pounds more than I weigh now (since I have used EFT to lower my weight. I have lost and kept off 25 pounds since I used EFT to lose the weight). I had a story that I could eat as much as I wanted--and I did. If I hadn't been exercising as much as I did I probably would have weighed a LOT more.

When I lost the weight with EFT, I didn't focus on exercise, and still lost weightCool

I hear lots of people use the excuse of not having the time to exercise, and so they can't lose weight because they aren't exercising. Yes, excercising helps tone the body, etc., but people can lose weight using EFT and NOT exercise.

How was the EFT Intensive for you?

Did you get some good interviews? I was really looking forward to meeting you in the flesh--some other day...

Agreed - if doctors could put exercise in a pill, they would Wink as it has so many benefits.

Lindsay & Zoe's EFT Intensive was really great, wish you could have been there.  And yes I did quite a few interviews.  I met some really wonderful people!  I haven't had time to go through all the interviews yet as yesterday was my first day "off" since Labor Day - and of course I worked on this site for most of the day as usual Smile.  I am really so excited about everything, there is just not enough time in the day to do it all as fast as I want.

Thanks for all your posts on the site - and to everyone's posts on the site.  It helps more and more people find EFTProNetwork.com!

Hi Brandy,

Tele-classes are quickly becoming a way of sharing information in all fields. I  was wondering if we have a place on the site for classes that we are holding.

In person events and tele-class. I know that Gary no longer allows listing of classes on his site and has stated that he is not endorsing any level classes other than his video classes.

I'd love anyones thoughts about all of this.

Glad you asked!  We are currently working on allowing all of our members to list workshops, tele-classes, seminars, etc.  I had hoped to have it live on the site by now, but it is not ready yet.  However it is one of our highest priorities.

One of the beauties of EFT is that it is a creative process for the practitioner as well as the client.  Remember what Forrest Gump said: "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."  In a way, that reminds me of EFT sessionsWink.  Even though you might not know what you're going to get in a session your giving or out of a session your getting, the creativity and intuition of the practitioner can sometimes help facilitate amazing and quick results.

Creativity can also be extended to workshops and classes.  There are a multitude of types of workshops and classes that can be beneficial for people wanting to learn EFT as well as for practitioners wanting to expand their knowledge and expertise.  There may be some sort of standardization of workshops at some point in the future, but now is the time for everyone to get creative and see what types of "Titles" and "Agendas" will interest people. There is no substitute for hands-on experience with a real live person - so if you can get to a workshop - by all means, take advantage of it!

Until we are able to offer you to list your workshops and classes, feel free to announce them in your blogs and on the forums!

I agree with you abut creativity. I understand standardization but it often kills creativity.
